Barbara Hauser is a recognized global leader on the subject of family offices. A lawyer by background (Wellesley College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School) she has represented wealthy families for more than 30 years. She is the Advisory Editor of the Family Offices handbook, by ATEP and Globe Law and Business Publishing, and is the Editor-in-Chief of the new quarterly journal The International Family Offices Journal published in London.
Based in the United States she has advised families and their advisors in a number of countries, including Saudi Arabia, on creating and improving their family offices. She is on the Spears 2017 list of top Family Office Advisors.
Barbara is a prolific writer: books include International Estate Planning, International Family Governance, Saudi-Girl Barbara and she is a contributor to Trusts in Prime Jurisdictions as well as the Family Offices handbook. Barbara also chairs the international committee for the U.S. journal Trusts & Estates and founded the Linked In group “International Family Governance.
She helps families create Family Constitutions, Family Councils, and Family Offices, and also provides an independent evaluation of family trust documents. She enjoys helping families create family offices that meet their specific needs. She is an independent Board member of the Pitcairn Company, a leader in the family office industry.
Barbara has received many awards and is active in The International Academy of Estate and Trust Law, l’Union Internationale des Avocats, the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, the Wealth Advisors Forum and the Collaboration for Family Flourishing. Barbara is a frequent speaker for groups in several countries, including as keynote speaker for the First Annual Family Offices Summit in India.
